Wednesday evening, Rye Lawn Tennis Club welcomed around 50 members and guests for a spectacular display of tennis and padel, followed by a fun-filled beer and wine tasting.
On the grass tennis courts, our head coach Zane, partnered by Vic Lowe, battled it out against coach Rupert North and Simon Crispin. Zane and Vic claimed the first set 6-4, and the second set stood at 2-2 when, unfortunately, Rupert pulled a calf muscle, cutting the match short. Over on the glass-backed padel court, Alex Hoffman and Tom Meyer emerged victorious, winning two sets to one against Paul Masters and Simon Bottle.
After the sporting action, the evening continued in the Clubhouse with a beer and wine tasting event. Shepherd Neame’s 1698 was a crowd favourite, as was their alcohol-free option, Noughty Bear. The Oxney white and rosé wines were equally well received, with Kristin staying busy as members couldn’t choose which was more delicious, trying them all!
Thank you to everyone who attended and made the evening a great success. Stay tuned for more exciting events at Rye Lawn Tennis Club!
