Founded in 1922 as the Rother Meads Tennis and Games Club, on the banks of the River Rother in the rural outskirts of Rye in East Sussex, we are a Community Amateur Sports Club, run by our members, and welcome players of all standards and ages.
We are a friendly club and enjoy regular social events, as well as offering tennis, squash and padel coaching for adults and children, fitness training sessions, half-term and holiday junior tennis camps and the chance to compete in tournaments and matches.
If you are looking for somewhere to play tennis, squash or padel regularly, or just to give it a go, please get in touch with us.
The club hosts five popular sports – tennis, squash, padel, table tennis and croquet – and caters for all standards with coaching for all abilities and dedicated junior sections.
Social events held at the club each year include drinks parties and the annual tournament barbecue and disco at the beginning of August. Additional events include Sunday lunches, barbecue evenings and buffet suppers tacked on to sports evenings, including the squash finals and annual table-tennis tournament.
Events are arranged from time to time to raise additional funds to improve the club facilities. These have included dances, golf days, open gardens, opera evenings and bicycle rides.
The bar is usually open from 6pm Monday to Thursday as well as on Sundays from 12pm. The club rooms are also available for private hire by members.
For the full annual programme of both social and sporting events, see the Diary of Events.

New members of all ages and standards are welcome. The club hosts social events and – as well as tennis, squash and padel – members can enjoy croquet or table tennis or a work-out in the gym.
If you’re a club member and a more competitive player, there’s a growing list of opportunities for match and competition play. We run regular club tournaments across most sports.
