Coaching for all ages and standards, from complete beginner to performance level players. Group coaching sessions are held throughout the week, with individual coaching being arranged directly with coaches.
The club has active programmes for juniors and adults, with regular group coaching and individual lessons for players of any level and age throughout the year.
If you’re a club member and a more competitive player, there’s a growing list of opportunities for match and competition play. We run regular club tournaments across most sports.
Club sessions take place each week and are a good way of meeting other members. The purpose of these sessions is to provide a forum where players of all standards can turn up and play some tennis without pre-arranging their games. The weekly schedule is:
Tuesday Club Session 5:30pm-7:30pm - Tanya McCulley (07437463350)
Thursday Experienced Players Session 5:00pm-8:00pm - Bob Thomson (07771741010)
Sunday Club Session 11:00am-1:00pm - Tanya McCulley (07437463350)
LTA-rated singles box leagues are organised by Tanya Mcculley and are open to men and ladies over the age of seventeen. Any queries, requests to join or leave the boxes should be directed to her on 07437463350 or by email tanya@hotshotztennis.co.uk. Results count towards your new ITF World Tennis Number.
The club competes in the Ladies Sussex County League, managed by Julie Shelley-Barnes (jshelleybarnes@gmail.com), and the Mixed Wealden League, managed by Karen Spencer (karen@karenwilks.co.uk). Matches are also arranged against other clubs, including the All England Lawn Tennis Club, Queen’s, Walmer and Rye Golf Club.
It is only by investing significant time, money and effort in this renovation process that we can maintain the exceptional quality of the courts that we all enjoy during the summer months. As our President Chris Gorringe said this year – “they are some of the finest grass courts in the country”.
For many of you, this process takes place over just a few days, without you being aware of what is involved. So we’ve made a film that explains what is involved in the process.
Non-members may not play tennis on the grass courts unless accompanied or introduced by a member, who is responsible for ensuring that they are equipped with white tennis clothing and the correct footwear. Hard courts are available for non-members, if not previously booked or already being used by members. Guest fees are £20 per person per session up to 2 hours or £10 if playing with a member. If accompanied guests are under 18, fees are half the above rates. Please contact tennis@ryelawntennisclub.org.uk if you would like to play as a guest. Fees should be paid before going on court.
It is a strict rule of Rye LTC that members and their guests wear predominantly white clothing and proper tennis shoes when using the grass tennis courts. An hour’s play wearing the wrong shoes can ruin a grass court for the whole season.
The club has an online booking system for the tennis, padel and squash courts at ClubSpark. You will be given login access to this on membership. You may book up to 14 days in advance.
As junior tennis members benefit from very low subscription rates, adult members have priority use of the grass tennis courts if no other courts are available, apart from specified times such as junior tournaments, junior matches, coaching sessions etc.
A stock of sports clothing and club ties is maintained in the clubhouse.
