The Rye Padel Club Mexicano Tournament, organised by Claire Myatt and Sally Watson, took place at the club on Sunday 7th April. The sun was shining and the courts were dry for a fantastic six hours of competitive padel. All levels were catered for, with 48 keen players split between three groups. The Mexicano format mixed up the partnerships as the results came in and enabled everyone to play with a variety of different partners. Individual scores were kept, with Sally in charge of the spreadsheet and Claire ringing the bell (loudly) every 15 minutes and making sure everyone was with the right partner on the correct court. Somehow amid the chaos it all worked well. Play started at 9.00 and the last matches finished at 3.30.
The winners from each group were Greg Say, Phil Harper and Keith Thomas.
Congratulations to them and to everyone who came along to play and spectate. And huge thanks to Claire and Sally for organising. It was a great day, the club and the bar were buzzing and we look forward to welcoming more players to our next padel event. Hopefully we can make these tournaments a regular fixture in the padel calendar.
