There was a good turnout for the Road to Wimbledon tournament, held at the Club on Sunday 11th April, a unique event open to all Rye LTC boys and girls under the age of fourteen. Organised by coach Suzy Larkin, the Rye juniors came along on a chilly but bright afternoon to do battle for the opportunity to play in a regional final and hopefully progress to a national final on the grass courts at Wimbledon. Some tight matches between the boys saw Ollie Bearcroft as the winner with Josh Edmondson the runner-up, while Esme Brady-Rogerson came out ahead of Freya Baxter in the girls’ draw. Congratulations and thanks to all those who participated in the event this year. We will follow Ollie and Esme as they progress on to the next stage of the competition, the county finals, in July.
