Garden Party Raises Over £3000 for the Poole Field Development

Saturday 27th June saw another successful Open Day at Rye LTC. We welcomed over 50 adults and juniors who enjoyed tennis, padel and archery in the glorious sunshine and were delighted to see so many new faces giving all the sports a go – as well as members who came along to sharpen their skills. Off court the clubhouse bar was in full swing and there was strong support for the padel exhibition match, a real highlight, showcasing the fun and excitement of this fast-growing sport. A special thank you to Mark and Ewan for delivering tennis and padel coaching throughout the day, to the archery team who skilfully passed on their expertise, and to everyone who helped make the event such a special “community” day.
Alongside the Open Day was our grass court tournament, open to members and non-members alike. A strong contingent from Regents Park joined us for the afternoon and enjoyed some competitive matches, with Uttam Singh and Ema Operta coming through their group play-off as the worthy winners and Alejandra Botbol and Arul Gupta the runners-up. In the other groups, Sally Watson and Roman Vijande won theirs comfortably, coming through a play-off against Charlotte Hensley and John Marshall to take the trophy. Thanks to Charlotte Draper for running the afternoon.
