There was a record turn out for the annual Farmer tennis tournament on Saturday August 8, 2026.
The mercury hit 26 degrees as 48 couples all played 55 games of tennis, helped along by lunch and tea from Katie Ashby and her team and plenty of rosé and Pimm’s, of course!
A-section winners Vicki Lowe and Scott Brotherton met D-section winners Imogen Ansell and Louis Gordon Clark in one semi-final, while B-section champions Georgina Stephenson and Freddie Whitfield met C victors Herbie Stephenson and Phoebe Bennie in the other.
Vicki and Scott began every game at 30 love down and, despite a valiant effort, were beaten 6-4 by Imogen and Louis. Georgina and Freddie beat Georgina’s son Herbie and his partner Phoebe 6-4 after giving them 15 every other game.
Georgina and Freddie then went on to beat Imogen and Louis in the final 6-2. They received the trophies with beaming smiles and to cheers from the crowd.
