We are excited to announce the launch of a new archery club within our grounds.
Archery Membership is open to people of all abilities starting at ten years old with no upper age limits. The reason for the minimum age of ten is to allow young bodies to develop enough to be able to reach the shortest distance on the archery range, which is 20 yards.
Members can shoot several bow styles including Recurve, Longbow, Compound and Barebow.
The archery range is set out all year round, with bosses ranging from 20 yards all the way up to 100 yards. The bosses can easily be moved to accommodate shooting metric distances if required.
Members can use the range seven days a week and for as long as there is daylight. All you need to do is put a target face on the boss and you are ready to shoot. There is level access to the range and toilet facilities are available.
Archery is a very reasonably priced sport in which to participate and equipment can be purchased to suit everyone whatever their budget, large or small.
Our coaches are fully qualified by Archery GB and NFAS. They also hold Enhanced DBS Certificates and have completed Safeguarding Courses.
Ongoing coaching is free to members on a Saturday morning from 10.00am to 1.00pm. For one-to-one coaching there is a small charge.
As part of Rye Lawn Tennis Club, archery members also have the option of applying for bolt-on membership for any of the Club’s other sports.
To comply with Rye Lawn Tennis Club insurance, anyone wishing to join the Archery must complete one of our Beginner Courses or have done so elsewhere and have proof of this. If you are an experienced Archer from another club, you would need to do a Safe to Shoot with one of our coaches.
