Thank you to all the players who braved freezing conditions to play on Saturday. There was a fantastic level of padel in all groups, with many amazing rallies and, as ever at Rye, lots of laughs and a great club spirit.
The winning pair from each group moved up into the next group so everyone had a chance to be crowned champions. At the end of the final group, Vic Lowe and Scott Brotherton emerged victorious.
A VERY BIG THANK YOU to everyone who made it happen in quite tricky circumstances.
The Friday night crew, in the dark ensuring the courts were covered and playable, the Saturday morning crew, who pitched up early and cleared, scraped and brushed to make the courts safe, the barista team making hot drinks for hours, the bakers for the delicious sausage rolls and amazing range of cakes, the court organisers/scorers…. and anyone else we’ve forgotten.
The day also proved how much we need more courts and how amazing it would be for them to be indoor.
This was the first fundraiser of 2026 to make the new courts happen and we raised £600. A good start to what will be a very big year for our padel club.
