The sun shone on 40 players from across the South East who joined us on Saturday 12th September to bid farewell to the grass courts for another year.
It was a fitting end to a fantastic grass court season and a real testament to the hard work and dedication of Adam Stunt and Freddie Menzies, with the courts still playing beautifully even at this late stage of the year. If the occasional ball was missed, it certainly couldn’t be blamed on a “bad bounce”!
The courts were at capacity and alive with spirited play throughout the day. There were winners on court, of course, but most importantly everyone enjoyed a brilliant final day of tennis on the grass.
A special mention must go to David Wallis, who managed to book-end the 2026 grass court season in style. David won the Opening of the Grass Tournament back in June alongside his wife, Katy, before returning to win the Closing of the Grass in September with his daughter, Lucy.
This will, of course, come as no surprise to anyone who has found themselves on the receiving end of the formidable Wallis grass court game!
A huge thank you to everyone who played and helped make the day such an enjoyable way to close the season.
Roll on June 2027!
