We’re pleased to announce that the Rye Lawn Tennis Club Mixed Team has been promoted to Division 1 in the Wealden League following a strong 2024–25 season.
Across 12 matches—6 at home and 6 away—our team delivered a solid performance, finishing with:
We tied on points with Staplehurst but secured third place by winning more sets and games. The competition for the top positions was incredibly close, with Cross in Hand 2 finishing just one point ahead of us. However, since Cross in Hand already has a team in Division 1, they have kindly offered the promotion spot to Rye—and we’ve gladly accepted.
A big thank you to all our brilliant team players this season:
Nik Archer, Mel Baynton-Perret, Kate Bearcroft, Ollie Bearcroft, Will Bearcroft, Chris Chappell, James Farrant, Mark Harris, Phil Harper, Helen Kenny, Simon Lambert, Rosie Meyhell, Steve Reeve, Julie Shelley Barnes, Penny Stephens, Sarah Walsh.
We’re looking forward to the challenge of Division 1 and the opportunity to compete at a higher level.
