After a two-year break, it was fantastic to see so many juniors back on court at RLTC for our Closed Junior Tournament. Despite some dramatic weather forcing play onto the clay courts, our players adapted brilliantly – turning our mini Wimbledon into a mini Roland Garros.

The standard of tennis was high throughout, with tightly contested round-robin matches. In the main draw final, Alice Hoffman edged past Finnian in a tense 4-2 win, sealed by a couple of clutch next-point victories.

The Orange Ball final saw a thrilling comeback from Arthur Smith, who overturned a 2-7 deficit to take the first tiebreak 10-8. Henry Neil levelled in the second, but Arthur held his nerve in the decider, winning 10-7.

In the Green Ball event, George Smith narrowly defeated Aven Alias in a high-quality final full of long rallies and sharp shot-making.

The Doubles final was another highlight, with Poppy Lambert and Alice Hoffman defeating Aven Alias and George Smith 10-7 in a hard-fought tiebreak.

Despite the rain, the day ended with sunshine, great tennis, and outstanding sportsmanship all round. Huge congratulations to the winners and every junior who took part — we’re already looking forward to an even bigger event next year!
